An electric bike is generally made up of four components.
- Rechargeable battery (the power source): Lithium batteries are revolutionizing electric bicycles. These batteries allow for a much greater stored energy in a smaller, lighter package which translates to greater range between charges.
- Throttle: Regulates the speed.
- Controller: Receives speed signal from throttle. This signal then tells the controller how much power should be sent from the battery to the motor.
- Brushless Motor: Efficiently changes electrical energy to mechanical energy (with maximum torq available from zero RPM!).
